Sun-Savvy Tips for the Solar Eclipse

Hey sun-savvy Sol Sisters! Are you prepared for the Solar Eclipse on Monday, Aug. 21? The path of totality will sweep through North America for the first time since 1979! You won’t want to miss this astronomical occurrence, but there are special precautions you’ll need to take to make your viewing experience sun-safe. Here are a couple of our SolTips. Don’t look directly at the eclipse! We know it's fascinating and you’ll be tempted to look at it, but doing so could result in permanent eye damage. Don’t even sneak a glimpse! You Missed A Spot

Have you ever thoroughly applied sunscreen (or so you thought) and ended up with strips of stoplight-red sunburn on your body and face? Turns out you’re not alone! SolTip1: Choose sunscreens with ingredients like Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide that reflect UV rays. We recommend Fair & Fashionable's BB+ Cream, rated SPF 40. Second: “After age 40, SPF is pointless” - also false! As we age, our skin becomes more susceptible to sunburns. Most skin...

Spring Your Sun Protection Forward

Fresh flowers, pastel accessories and warm weather are some of our favorite spring things! As we “spring ahead” this weekend and approach the days of longer sunshine, check the UV Index in your location to see the sun’s strength. The higher the UV index number, the more protection you need! SolTip: Download this nifty app and enter your zip code to ensure you're taking the right steps to protect your delicate skin. We like to keep the app next to our weather app. You can also access the UV index via this site. The sun can be especially dangerous this time of year because...
